Our business was founded on cost management and this is still a core service offer. We have moved on from traditional quantity surveying and blend modern requirements with traditional skills and expertise. In part this has been driven by the market but it also reflects the way that the modern industry works with design detailing, product selection and performance functionality being driven by product suppliers and sub-contractors. We focus on the biggest areas of risk for the Client in procurement approach and documentation, thorough administration of the contract and driving affordability and value.

We have a suite of modern tools and templates that we use to provide services. This starts with the basic Excel package but based on a series of templates developed to source, filter and manipulate data as it is required. In addition to this we have access to BCIS data for tender price and cost inflation, use MS Project to resource profile projects and project costs and have an internal database of cost benchmarks and targets that we use to drive project performance.

Our project documentation has been developed over many years to reflect the sectors that we work in and the specific projects that we are engaged on. As well as developing and maintaining our own databases we can access Technical Index and other databases to support specific project requirements and information.

Some Swatches of our experience

Working with a town / parish council to replace the footpaths in a historic and tourism centre in the Exmoor National Park. This involved liaison with the Local Authority and Highways to maintain the look and feel at an affordable price and sourcing the appropriate material.

We were appointed to act as cost managers for a new retail park in Oxfordshire. A relatively new venture for the Client in a new location. We sourced a contractor under budget and managed the project through to completion under the tender sum.

Conversion of a listed, redundant working mens club in Chard Town Centre to 5 flats. Due to funding requirements the Client had only 6 months to procure and deliver the project. Project was commissioned on an Open book JCT D&B basis.

Procurement of a responsive maintenance contract for a small Housing Association in Somerset with less than 700 properties. As well as affordability, key to the Client was quality of service from the contractor so the assessment was based on value and not cost.

Quantity surveyors for a new, complex food processing plant to be built in Somerset for an international company. The project was procured on a design and build basis including the procurement of the complex food process equipment as part of the bid.
