The business started in the late 70’s and the founders are still engaged to this day providing advice and guidance to the current Partners and Senior team giving excellent continuity of business for our Clients. We are an independent practice owned by the Partners.

We are a close-knit team of people with relationships that go back many years and a strong mix of skills, experience and personalities. We all share a common objective of doing the best that we can and working with our Clients to deliver outstanding results. We want to grow our business based on relationships with our people and our Clients and wish for these to be enduring and beneficial for all.

The Practice was formed in 1979 by Phill Baker and John Ruff and enjoyed great success locally, in London and the Middle East, growing to 20 people and diversifying from quantity surveying into design and project management. In later years, longstanding employee, John Hannon, entered the partnership to form Baker Ruff Hannon. All three are still engaged with the business today. We have gone back to our roots and now provide project management, cost management and consultancy services across a broad spectrum of sectors and projects.

Construction Advisors – We can help you set up your project, procure your team or just look at viability and technical diligence on what you are planning to do. Our team have a broad range of skills and can provide advice on all sorts of issues.

Project Management – Is one of the cornerstones of our business. We provide robust management of projects based on clear milestone activities and outputs with all the checks and balances that you would expect. We don’t act as a post box but get stuck into the project activity and drive team performance to deliver the outputs required.

Cost Management – We have moved on from traditional quantity surveying and bring a more commercial approach to addressing cost and value on projects. We take the best of the ‘old school’ and blend it with new methodologies to focus on the financial issues that matter and manage them effectively.

Programme Management – We have extensive experience of working on large programmes of work either true ‘programmes’ of work where the sum of the parts improves the whole but also roll out programmes in retail and other sectors where the construction projects are an enabler to a bigger business objective.

Health & Safety Advice – to a degree this is embedded in everything we do and all projects that we work on, however, we do provide specific consultancy and support on projects as part of exiting commissions.
